Strategic Plan

In 2011 Beechworth & District Hockey Club received funding by the Department of Planning and Community Development to develop a Strategic Plan for the next 5 years. Please click here to view our strategic plan.

Club Room

Beechworth & District Hockey Club rooms are located within the Baarmutha Park Pavilion (shared with golf, netball, cricket and football).  Baarmutha Park Pavilion is located off Balaclava Rd Beechworth.

Home ground in Beechworth

Our Club has been investigating the potential of having a home ground in Beechworth. The challenge has been to find a large enough flat space that is on public land. A variety of locations have been investigated over the years.

The location that has been earmarked is the flat playing space at Beechworth Secondary College. This agreement has been reached with the School, Indigo Shire Council and our Club. Other sites identified included at La Trobe University, Baarmutha Park and Wallace Park (beside the swimming pool). These areas are unsuitable due to lack of space or change in management of the land (La Trobe).

The next stages are to establish  the Committee of Management structure so the area is acknowledged and managed for hockey and community use not just Department of Education and Early Childhood use. Funding will then need to be secured for the synthetic field and the lighting.

The Club would like a multipurpose synthetic field that allows a variety of sports to be played including hockey, volley ball, soccer, tennis, bowls, badminton and netball. Once the funding is received it will then be 12-24 months for the field to be constructed. Hockey Albury Wodonga (HAW) and the Clubs of HAW are supportive of our efforts to have a synthetic field. Indigo Shire is supportive of our goals though we are very aware that Council needs to support clubs throughout the Shire and in recent years Beechworth has been very well supported. We could be looking at 5-10 years before the field is a reality.
